Here's more about 33Miles

Three different states. Three different upbringings. Brought together by the single-minded knowledge that God was calling them to even greater things. Their talent and experience is undeniably impressive as individuals, and even more so when considered collectively. But what is most impressive about Jason Barton, Chris Lockwood, and Collin Stoddard is not their ability but their heart for ministry.

Even greater things ...

33 Miles is a metaphor for the 33 years that Christ spent on Earth, and how He lived them. "He was a friend to the friendless, He loved the unlovable, and He gave of Himself selflessly by dying on the cross in our place so that we could live forever, " Jason explains. "We want to follow Christ. We want our "Miles" to have purpose and meaning and to make a difference for the Kingdom of God. We aren't promised a certain number of miles, so what are we going to do with the 'Miles' that we are given?"

For 33 Miles, the answer to that question is using their God-given musical abilities in ministering to the church. From the kids in Sunday school to their grandparents in the pews, the one message that 33 Miles has for their audiences is to trust Christ. "All three of us grew up in the church," Collin explains, "and I don't think it's a coincidence that the desire we all share for both our music and our ministry is to reach the body of Christ with the reality of Jesus." "Ultimately," Jason contributes, "we want nothing more than to live out the calling that God has placed on our lives' to sing great music that encourages people and builds them up."

Not just another vocal group

And they can certainly sing. In fact, the first thing you notice about 33 Miles is their exceptional vocal ability. "Jason has stellar pipes," says Chris. "Our voices blend so well, " adds Jason, "It's like we've been singing together forever." But 33 Miles offers more than exceptional vocals and tight harmonies. Chris is following in his uncle's footsteps on guitar, while Collin has been a student of the piano for almost his entire life. As writers, arrangers, instrumentalists, and musicians, Jason, Chris and Collin are excited to bring their individual abilities together as 33 Miles.

"Musicians, however, are a dime a dozen," says Chris. On the other hand, "Integrity is not always so easy to come by, especially nowadays. Relationships are the most important things when it comes to ministry, and as a group, we just chime." When asked about the other members, Jason comments that "Comedy is a crucial element of any group, and Chris is hilarious, while Collin has a heart of gold with maturity beyond his years. " "We understand each other," Chris conludes, "and even when we don't, we try."

Divine orchestration

It is this mutual respect among Jason, Collin and Chris that conveys a striking sense of familiarity to their audiences. When he came to Nashville, Jason's reputation as a performer allowed him to make many friends within the Christian music industry. Meanwhile in Alabama, Chris began doing some work for a friend who, in turn, introduced him to Jason. Based on several recommendations, they met Collin a short time later, and were all quickly united by their shared heart for the church.

While God's plans for the music and ministry of 33 Miles are still being revealed He is clearly calling them to even greater things as a group. "As long as God reveals and receives His glory, it will all be worth it." says Chris. "Besides," Collin points out, "not knowing is part of the journey." Regardless of where that journey might lead, the members know that God has called them to reach the church and are excited to walk out the "Miles" that they've been given with purpose and meaning.
